New Ridgeview High School Campus
At the time design started on Ridgeview High School, it was intended to be Kern High School District’s first “closed campus” where all students were required to stay on campus for all lunch periods. The 45 acre campus was master planned by Mark Russell, AIA and opened in 1994. The overall project was designed by the associated design team of Renfro Russell & Associates / Robert F. Stuhr Architects. In addition to master planning the campus, Mr. Russell designed the gymnasium, dining/commercial kitchen building and the classroom wings. The closed campus layout provided maximum security control focused on a large central quad capable of accommodating 2200 to 2400 students. Current enrollment is at capacity. The master plan developed by Mr. Russell was later utilized for other High School campuses throughout Kern County.
